Celebrating food, flowers, life

Recent Projects

Recent projects have focused on food, flowers and makers and valuing the people that produce and make them. In 2021 Mary was commissioned by the Hamilton Foundation for the ‘REfresh Chester’ programme on behalf of Cheshire Council to create work that celebrated local food made and grown in Chester and the surrounding area.

This included an exhibition of photographs and participation in a zine for REfresh Chester which is part of the HAZ (Historic Action Zone) opening and recovery programme. Part of the commission included running a still life photography workshop for small business, artist makers and creatives.

Previously to this, she was commissioned to create a series of work for Chester Bandstand on the theme of ‘Renewal’ as a response to the opening up after the Covid 19 lockdown. This is a series of works to be shown online and at the Bandstand in Chester.

She has run workshops for many different groups and organizations including the V&A Museum in Liverpool, University of Chester, Cheshire and Cheshire West and Ty Pawb in Wrexham. She also runs private classes and workshops for small groups and individuals.

In 2016 Mary completed an MA in Art Practice at Glyndwr University and completed research on the creative process and drawing. Following this she did a one year residency at Chester University which resulted in a handmade book and an exhibition in the CASC gallery in Chester on the theme of ‘The Journey’.
